This book discusses the possibilities of hydrogen in a global renewable energy transition and the position of the Netherlands in all of this from a variety of points of interest such as: technology, areas of application, geopolitics, social aspects and the hydrogen economy. Some thirty experts were asked to contribute freely from their own field and perspective. (Im)possibilities of hydrogen have been examined across the board, and in particular what it could mean for the Netherlands and Europe.

"Clean hydrogen is the key to a strong, competitive and carbon-free European economy. The best way to sum it all up? Hydrogen Rocks!."
"In the long run, it is not inconceivable that green hydrogen will outcompete fossil fuels, even barring the current generous fossil subsidies."
"Sun and wind can be harvested throughout the world, but in some places, wind and sun are more abundant. In wind and solar-rich areas, one can harvest 2.5-3.0 times the levels than on land in North-West Europe. Therefore, it makes sense to produce renewable energy in those areas and transport it to where it is needed."
"The development of hydrogen is happening worldwide at lightning speed and is certainly no longer unattainable or far-fetched. Before you lies a book which tells what is practically possible and feasible with hydrogen solutions."

Here you can find the collaborative publication from 2018: 'Circularity, towards 2050'. A goldmine of ideas where many technologies, insights, concept examples and visions are gathered on the question of whether the transition to a circular society in 2050 is possible and what difficulties we might encounter.
